Defamation in Virtual World

Prita Mulyasari was a housewife, a former patient Omni International Hospital Alam Sutera Tangerang. While being treated at the hospital, Prita didn't get a cure but the disease even worse. The hospital didn't provide definitive information about Prita's disease, as well as the hospital didn't provide medical records required by Prita. Prita Mulyasari then complained the hospital services through electronic mail which then spread to various mailing lists in the virtual world. Consequently, the Omni International Hospital feels angry and defiled. The Omni International Hospital was complaining Prita Mulyasari criminally. Prita Mulyasari has previously been found guilty in a civil court. And even then, Prita was arrested in Tangerang women's prisons since 13 May 2009 as snared defamation laws by using information and electronic transactions. The case then caused a lot of public attention that affect the emergence of solidarity "Coin Concern for Prita". On 29 December 2009, Mrs. Prita Mulyasari was acquitted by the district court Tangerang. (Cases that ensnared law number 11 of 2008, article 27, paragraph 3 of the information and electronic transactions).

Then almost at the end of 2009 reappeared case ensnared by law number 11 article 27, paragraph 3 of the 2008 of the information and electronic transactions that experienced by our beautiful artist is Luna Maya. The case of Luna Maya now public attention. Moreover, Luna Maya as well as a public figure will inevitably lead to the pros and cons in the community. This case originated from the writings of Luna Maya in a twitter account that says, "Infotainment rank more despicable than the prostitutes and murders". In fact it doesn't need to be written in her Twitter account, because it is too much especially accompanied by hurling curses insulting and degrading profession infotainment workers. (Cases that have ensnared law number 11 of 2008, article 27, paragraph 3 of the information and electronic transactions).
